Napoleon's Prolapse Scar...

Super Cute Napoleon has finally arrived back from the vets sporting a very massive bald patch on her under belly with a massive scar... I wish the vets gave me one of those fancy lamp shades to put on her head! She would have looked well funny!

Need to start taking pictures again

There was a time where I would never ever put my D60 down, but recently my adventures have been limited and so has been the opportunity to photograph...
Need to go out to play!

The imaginary band

The imaginary band.
With the help of Valhalla and Ross we are assembling a playtime band to help numb the boredom of full time working...
I have always dreamed of being in a band! Its going to be one of my life time achievements to play on a stage as part of a band. I still have my impluse buy bass guitar and intend on using it.
I do however need to learn how to play the Bass as its not as easy as just picking up and playing with no musical instrument skills. Ross is the only member of the band that can actually play an instrument, so this is guarenteed to be interesting. lol.

New Tattoo

A Flock of Birds.
Seven birds representing my seven year relationship, behind my ear and the singular bird on the wrist for years single. Seemed like a very philosophical reason at the time.
But either way I quite like them, the one on my wrist I have ruined on a box at work, possibly needs filling in.

I really really want a PUG!!

I am convinced that a pug would make a fantastic companion for Napoleon whilst I am at work and would fit perfectly through the cat flap!

And the perfect name: TINA!!

Degree show categorisation and prep.

Hours I have spent just staring at other peoples pictures trying to categorise them into groups when each picture was taken spontaneously of individuals under different conditions. It seems difficult to try and pigeon hole them now. The should have been some guidelines for participants before having their picture taken.

an incomplete manifesto of growth

I wish I could forget all the negativity and go with the flow of the Manifesto of Growth..
If there was time or if I could make time, I would follow this religiously.

Drift. Allow yourself to wander aimlessly. Explore adjacencies. Lack judgment. Postpone criticism

Process is more important than outcome. When the outcome drives the process we will only ever go to where we've already been. If process drives outcome we may not know where we’re going, but we will know we want to be there.

Capture accidents. The wrong answer is the right answer in search of a different question. Collect wrong answers as part of the process. Ask different questions.

Make mistakes faster. This isn't my idea -- I borrowed it. I think it belongs to Andy Grove.

George Maciunas: Suggest Artist

George Maciunas (1931–1978) established strangely radical modes of presentation in the name of Fluxus. In his view the bulk of the conventional art business—museums, theaters, concert halls, opera houses, and publishers—should cease to exist. Traditional works of art were to be replaced by Fluxus. Art was to be so uncomplicated that it could be realized by anyone, anywhere. New pieces would have their copyrights protected and would be available for the price of a paperback.
Maciunas was a staunch opponent of personal enrichment and came up with spartan solutions for almost every life situation. Despite his tireless efforts, he never achieved his ultimate goal, and he died impoverished and in miserable circumstances.

Adolescent Kitten!

Napoleon has turned into an adolescent plant and wire chewing cat! With the new habit of clawing me!!!
She is driving me mental. But on the plus side she is more talkative which is SUPER cute! and she can now hold a short conversation! Which feeds my slightly mental behaviour! Excellent!

Sophie Calle - A Genius!!

Sophie Calle has filled the French pavilion of the Venice Biennale with a praised exhibition about her emailed dumping letter. Over two years later, she distributed the missive to 107 women professionals, photographed them reading it and invited them to analyse it, according to their job...

"At first it was therapy; then art took over. "After I month I felt better. There was no suffering. It worked. The project had replaced the man." She feared he might come back seeking a reconciliation, which would have ruined the whole thing."

Raking through her emotional life for subjects, she has been compared to women artists including Emin and accused of cheap tricks. "Love, life and death - all of that is the most mundane material for artists. It amuses me because people often say, doesn't it bother you to show your private life? I say, well if you ruled out private life, you would have to eliminate all poetry. Victor Hugo, Baudelaire and Verlaine use their emotional life as subject matter. What I'm putting on show is a dumping. All dumping letters are the same, they're unpleasant. This one is neither better or worse than all the rest. It's an aid to a break-up. I don't talk about the man, and all the better. The subject is the letter, the text ... It was the words 'take care of yourself'.

Calle's "method" of dealing with the suffering the world throws at her is to see it all as a game of chance and coincidence, a ritual ripe for exposure on a wall.

"...It's another way of taking care of myself, a way of turning things around. Instead of being upset about being misinterpreted, I go looking for it, I hope for it, I wait for it. It's the right method, turning things to my advantage in order not to suffer from them."

Hello Unit 2 inspiration!

It appears perhaps trying to cover over my emotions with a brave face and pretend that I am fine, is not the way forward other than to embrace my emotional state! Welcome it and make from it. So from this inspiration seen in the modern art gallery in Paris I am going to make shrine type work for my my mind  frame.  I think being honest how I feel is more important than pretending that I am gong to be Okay. Yes, I am borderline obsessive, borderline crazy but Tracey Emin embraced it and perhaps I should get over it too and make light of the situation.

Paris 2010

A trip to escape the emotional day to day reality of being single, an attempt to bring some excitement to my life and replace what I feel with 'him'. See if it is really possible to fill his place with someone else.
The answer: NO.
It made me miss him more! Gave me time to think that his decision was unjustified and an easy escape. Made me realise how alone I really feel and how much more fun he is than anyone else

Although Me and Katie did have a good time, we ate snails and frogs!! The weather was cold!! and it snowed the whole time. It was beautiful! We experienced a little bit of the french culture, saw the Mona Lisa and enjoyed the waiting around and delays... (not)

The Eurostar, although slowing down because of the ice and causing massive hour long delays each way into and from London St. Pancreas, provided an excellent service and I recommend it! It didn't satisfy me either that our train from London to Norwich had "Locomotive" problems and breaking down causing an even later arrival home, BUT we got home and thats what counts!!

Trip to the City of Love (minus the Love)

Paris: A trip designed to help get over the exes but failed.

Eagles of Death Metal

Probably the greatest discovery of band in my entire life time!
I discovered them years and years ago but still their songs never get old. They sing it well. "The Boys Bad News!" Think there is a lesson to be learnt and to leave my Hillier obsession alone, he's no good really.

Ta-Dah!
